Ahead of International Jazz Day, enjoy two genre-spanning acts where bold improvisation and global sounds take centre stage.
A genre-blending celebration of jazz’s many voices, this double-bill performance marks International Jazz Day with two unforgettable presentations that capture the spirit of collaboration, experimentation, and global artistry. The evening showcases two stellar acts, led by some of India’s most exciting and accomplished jazz talents.
Act I features vocalist Shreya Bhattacharya and pianist Clement Rooney. With roots in jazz, blues, pop, and R&B, Shreya brings a playful, genre-fluid approach shaped by training across continents – from California to Brazil to India. Clement, a trained pianist and composer with a background from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, complements her with fluid harmonies and thoughtful improvisation. Together, their set is intimate yet exploratory – bridging classical structure with contemporary flair.
Act II brings together three of the Indian jazz scene’s most celebrated artists – guitarist Sanjay Divecha, bassist Shashank Das, and drummer Adrian D’Souza. A seasoned collaborator with legends like Zakir Hussain and Dave Holland, Divecha’s music is rooted in deep groove, melodic sophistication, and cultural fusion. With Das and D’Souza anchoring the rhythm section, the trio delivers a powerful set that blends tradition with innovation.
Together, these performances reflect the wide-ranging spirit of jazz today – cross-cultural, expressive, and constantly evolving.
