The goddess Bhadrakali is not merely worshipped – she is felt in the pulse of the earth, in the chants of rituals, and in the unspoken strength of those who revere her. ‘Bhagavathy’ brings this fierce, untamed spirit to life, weaving together childhood memories, ancestral devotion, and Kerala’s indigenous ritualistic arts.
Inspired by Divya Nayar’s grandmother’s stories of their family deity, this dance-theatre production unravels the goddess’ tribal roots, the weight of social hierarchies, and the mystical forces that surround her. Through a powerful fusion of live singing, movement, and theatrical dialogue, this showcase blurs the line between past and present, myth and memory.
Led by Nayar, an artist celebrated for her evocative storytelling, ‘Bhagavathy’ becomes an invocation – an immersive experience where dance and theatre transcend into a bridge to the divine.
